SAPO was an early 1970’s San Francisco-based Latin-rock band now considered one of the seminal and influential bands from the period. The band originally had ten pieces including congas, timbales, drums, two guitars and a four piece horn section.

Sapo was formed just as Malo’s song “Suavecito” hit the national top ten charts. Richard Bean, the singer and co-writer of the song, left Malo and formed Sapo with his brother horn player Joe Bean. Richard wrote Sapo’s songs and was the lead singer and timbale player. The band rehearsed four hours a day, five or six days a week in a large garage on South Van Ness Ave. in SF’s Mission District. They soon landed a national record deal on Bell Records (which later became Arista). With excellent songs and musicianship, the resulting album was a national success and hit in the Latino community. Richard Bean still performs with Sapo.

                                                   -----------------------------

ZEBOP! Takes their name from a classic Santana album of the same name. The band consists of seven energetic and talented Bay Area musicians who take great pride in performing the music of Santana with passion and dedication.

ZEBOP! was formed in 2005 by guitarist Antonio Marquez, although a Santana fan for many years, it was his talent and inspiration that attracted established local musicians to his vision of a tribute band honoring the music of Santana as created by Carlos Santana and all the excellent musicians in the various incarnations of the Santana band.

Born and raised in Oakland, California. Kirk McHenry has experienced a wealth of knowledge from life in the inner city, prep school in the suburbs, college life in the south and even a successful four-year stint in the Marine Corps.
